My Journey

I have spent years crafting heartfelt love songs and mastering Spanish and classical guitar styles that move the soul.

I started playing guitar at 11. By 16 and a half, I became a partners with Joe Coffman, who owned Sounds Express Music, a local music store, and since then, I have played professionally and written original music. Music affects the heart, mind, and soul. When I perform, I fall in love with my music all over again, creating beautiful feelings that touch my heart and my audiences. I perform both locally and internationally, and I am known for my fingerpicking and lead guitar skills. I select melodies that reach into the hearts of my listeners.

Studio Work

Being college-educated in music and a former studio guitarist has allowed me to play almost all styles, including smooth Jazz, Soul, bluegrass, country, and rock, and to perform in rhythm, lead, and fingerpicking styles.

One of the things that set me apart from other musicians is my ability to connect with my audience, get them involved, and help them enjoy the environment they are in. My music is something people deeply enjoy, and I love connecting with them.

Living in Spirit encompasses a way of life, a mindset, and an action plan that nurtures your mind, body, and spirit. It enhances communication, provides tools to overcome any challenge, and promotes a balanced life that boosts learning and memory. It teaches kindness, love, and respect as we navigate this one life. My story shares lessons learned, overcoming obstacles, and thriving. Resilience is key—getting up each time you're knocked down and rebuilding. Over 50 years, I’ve sought mentors who offered wisdom and tools to triumph. My main pursuits have been music and martial arts, through which I’ve grown personally and professionally. I want to share my philosophy, health, business, and communication insights. Living balanced isn’t a destination but a continual way of life. I wrote this book to connect with others, inspire growth, and help people discover their greatness. As a teacher, I aimed to connect first, then share knowledge, foster growth, and nurture creativity and love—in music, martial arts, and all areas. I don’t claim to know everything but wish to share lessons to help you develop the right mindset, refine your skills, open your heart, and live purposefully with kindness and love. My aim is to live my best life today and shape my future through daily actions.

• Carlos Santana: Mr. Santana would always sit on the left side of me during meditation in Santa Cruz , California Carlos Santana's spiritual name is "Devadip," which means "the lamp, light, and eye of God." He adopted this name after being introduced to the teachings of Sri Chinmoy, an Indian guru, in the 1970s, a moment that shaped his music and spiritual journey.

  MUSIC BACKGROUND

I studied classical guitar and have been teaching music since 1976. I developed a teaching method that encouraged students to play the guitar first, rather than sight-read, which they learned later, along with music theory. In my later years, I am focused again on playing and writing music. My hope and dreams are to share my music with as many people as possible while expressing what means a lot to me. I have developed a fingerpicking style that plays the melody while strumming or picking the guitar. But developed a teaching method that encouraged students to play the guitar first, rather than sight-reading, which they learned later, along with music theory. Playing music and writing music are what I am focused on again in my later years. My hope and dream are to share my music with as many people as possible, while expressing what means a lot to me. I have developed a fingerpicking style that plays the melody while strumming or picking the guitar. But my goal is to get my audience to have a great time and feel good.
